Procurement/Logistics/Inventory Officer

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of goods and services related to shipping and logistics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of orders.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, and track the status of orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial targets.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and strategies without compromising on quality.
  • Conduct regular reviews of procurement processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Monitor contract performance and address any issues or discrepancies as they arise.
  • Collaborate with inventory management teams to ensure optimal stock levels and timely replenishment.
  • Coordinate with logistics and shipping teams to align procurement activities with operational needs.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and market trends.
  • Address and resolve any procurement-related issues, including supplier disputes and logistical challenges.
  • Implement solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement processes.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within the shipping and logistics industry.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics operations and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
