Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Manage transactions with customers using cash registers

  • Phone etiquette

  • Skilled in loss prevention

  • Ensure pricing is correct

  • Product and inventory knowledge

  • Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate

  • Collect payments whether in cash, transfer, or POS

  • Issue receipts and change

  • Track inventory 

  • Stay current on promotions, discounts, or special offers

  • Redeem stamps and coupons

  • Cross-sell products and introduce new ones

  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information

  • Greet customers when entering or leaving the store

  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas

  • Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies

  • Bag, box or gift-wrap packages

  • Handle merchandise returns and exchanges

  • Makes sales referrals, cross-sells products and introduces new items 

  • Perform other duties as assigned/required by the accountant

  • Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information

  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout area

  • Willingness to displace patience in the face of all types of customer interaction


Requirements:

  • Minimum of OND/HND or BSC in related fields.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in using accounting software.
  • Demonstrated integrity.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Active listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Good product knowledge.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Dependable and flexible.
  • Friendly with good communication skills.
  • Ability to build customer loyalty.
  • Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
  • Good math skills, capable of creating and analyzing reports, spreadsheets, and sales statistics.
  • Proficient user of MS Office (especially MS Excel).
  • Strong initiative, time management, and stress management skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude.
  • Work experience as a Retail Cashier or in a similar sales role.
  • Basic PC knowledge.
  • Familiarity with electronic equipment such as cash registers and POS systems.
  • Efficient and able to multitask.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Hardworking with a focus on loss prevention.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused and friendly with excellent customer service skills.
  • Possesses basic math skills and is aware and alert at all times.
  • Patient and able to handle any situation calmly and confidently.
