Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all matters related to food preparation, and kitchen operations and manage multiple duties simultaneously in an organized manner.
  • Be aware there may be more demanding periods. For example, at the start of the school year and during the initial stages of implementing new requirements
  • Ensure meals are provided on time and that adequate quantities are available.
  • Ensure efficient service and good flow in the service area.
  • Control and reduce kitchen expenses in accordance with school activities.
  • Participate in staff performance and submit an annual self-evaluation form to the HR department
  • Ensure timely preparation and presentation of staff and clients’ orders daily.
  • Liaise with the school and act as an ambassador for the campus cafe
  • Provide the Admin manager with regular reports.
  • Create monthly/ termly menus for the school
  • Ensure menus are posted for students, parents, and staff’s attention.
  • Ensure the menu adheres to Standards for a balanced and healthy diet
  • Ensure the menu is appealing to students, school staff, and community members.
  • Keep abreast of culinary and healthy diet trends and incorporate these into the menu.
  • Develop and cost recipes and ensure that portion control is observed.
  • Maintain accurate records of service provided to students and staff who are on a postpaid meal program.
  • Control food costs and minimize food waste.
  • Order food supplies
  • Deal with suppliers and check that the correct order has been delivered at the quoted prices.
  • Maintain the kitchen and equipment. If faulty equipment is found, notify the school facility coordinator immediately and follow up until the repair is complete.
  • Advise the accounts department regarding additional equipment purchase requests.
  • Submit a daily report / monthly inventory to the accounts department and control inventory level.
  • Monitor inventory and notify the admin immediately if you suspect a security issue.
  • Implement and enforce kitchen restriction procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation.
  • Keep abreast of and comply with the latest health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of the food team.
  • During school break – be prepared to assist at different areas within our campus such as Events.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience
  • In-depth knowledge of continental, pastry, and Nigerian dishes, restaurant best practices and cooking methods.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills and aptitude for getting things done.
  • Excellent communication skills, and a natural leader. Someone who can guide and mentor the team.

Remuneration: NGN 180,000
