    Job Description

    Mission:

    • To manage the company’s contractual arrangements regarding drafting, legality, structuring, fiscal efficiency and compliance.

    Description

    • Review legal cases, petitions and internal matters requiring legal input/perspective, consult with all relevant parties, advise on case/petition/legal related matter, provide recommendation on course of action and effectively take appropriate and approved action in accordance with the rules and regulations of MTNN.
    • Draft legal agreements and review all relevant documentation supporting contracts for authenticity and validity, advising on company contracts relating to supplier agreements.
    • Participate in Contract negotiations to reduce cost and drive MTNN Value Creation Philosophy.
    • Settle legal issues between MTNN and 3rd parties, assisting in managing liquidations and disputes.
    • Carry out legal (administrative) services work including liaison/correspondence with external bodies and organizations, conducting due diligence in structuring of deals relating to commercial transactions.
    • Administer controls to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and effectively integrate ethics, compliance and preventive law efforts, ensuring MTNN activities are compliant with laid down laws and governing regulations/statutes.
    • Conduct proactive prevention of litigation, ensuring legal processes and services are effective and efficient in line with defined and approved design and rules. 
    • Review the performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.

    Education:

    • First degree in any relevant discipline

    Job Description

    Reports To: General Manager – Financial Planning

    Division: Finance

    Mission:

    • Take ownership of all MTNN’s Salaries processes, Payroll operations, Payroll reporting, Statutory PAYE remittances, reporting, and analytics for disclosure purposes, and ensure the integrity and correctness of all payroll related matters adopted.
    • Ensure the payroll processes adopted for all MTNN affiliates and subsidiaries align with the overall goals of the business and ensure there is no disconnect in the recognition and reporting of emoluments and benefits in line with relevant standards.
    • Lead all plans for the valuation for all MTNN staff retention and reward schemes, with clarities on the basis of differentials and the financial impact of the valuations. Also provide insight into the impact (especially financial) of proposed reward schemes before deployment.
    • Lead engagements on statutory and internal audits, compliance checks, and interaction with regulators (ITF, NSITF, SBIR, FIRS, etc.) and ensure MTN does not incur fines or is penalized for any infringement.

    Description:

    • Support shareholder returns by collaborating with MTN HR rewards team to collate, analyze, review, and process all financial information derived from all payroll processes and valuation exercises for the purpose of deriving staff costs and emoluments presented in the financial statements and adopted for planning and forecasting purposes.
    • Reflect each staff emolument and rewards under the appropriate cost class and ledger accounts in line with extant accounting standards and reporting nomenclatures.
    • Support the Financial reporting team to ensure the Audited Financial Statements (AFS) correctly reflect the total employee emoluments as actually incurred and provided for.
    • Work with stakeholders and the project team to develop cost-effective and value-adding solutions needed for accurate reflection and speedy completion of payroll processes required for reporting processes.
    • Implement all necessary policies, processes, and procedures to ensure all staff-related costs and emoluments are accurately tracked, processed, and reported under the relevant cost centers, divisions, and account classes.
    • Process all staff entitlements as guided by HR Rewards team in a timely manner, devoid of errors.
    • Support the drive for optimality with regards to headcount aspirations by recommending an appropriate structure be adopted.
    • Lead in innovation and change processes that can ensure improvements in all salaries and payroll processing functions.
    • Coach and mentor team members to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the team or unit, awareness of all related job requirements and accountabilities, and leverage human resources career development programs for staff career development.
    • Identify, evaluate, and track the development needs and performance of the team, providing opportunities for staff to build on the company’s investment in their training and improve productivity.

    Education:

    • A first degree in accounting or any other numerate discipline; a second degree will be an advantage.
    • Must be a chartered accountant.
    • Fluency in English and the language of country preferable.

    Experience:

    6–13 years’ experience, which includes:

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a supervisor in any payroll-related area of specialization, with experience in supervising/managing others
    • Experience working in a medium- to large organization.
    • Experience in payroll management or other significant financial management experience would be an advantage.
    • A blend of customer relations, administrative support, interfaces on audit related tasks, engagements with external parties on statutory matters, and tax experience is desirable.

    Job Description

    Reports To: Senior Manager – Compliance and Ethics Management

    Division: Risk and Compliance

    Mission: 

    • Effectively manage strategic, operational, and compliance risk exposures (internal or external) and ensure that existing internal processes and policies are effective in general and specifically in relation to compliance with laws and regulations across the MTN footprint.
    • Implement the internal control framework and policy. Review and assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and propose improvements.
    • Transition the team to an internal control focus in addition to their operational compliance responsibilities.

    Description: 

    • Implement the MTNN internal control framework across the organization and drive continuous improvement in operational processes and internal control design.
    • Ensure effective development and management of local PPPs (policies, processes, and procedures) and drive the adoption or localization of Group policies. Identify relevant controls from PPPs and ensure implementation. Monitor compliance with PPPs and regulatory requirements.
    • Drive sustenance of the ISO 37301:2021 certification for the Compliance Management System.
    • Oversee the control self-assessment (CSA) process, ensuring that it is completed timely and that remedial plans for controls are identified, documented, and implemented.
    • Carry out control testing to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, document the work carried out, and propose improvements for control gaps identified.
    • Act as the subject matter expert in respect of controls and provide training and guidance to employees on internal control procedures.
    • Collaborate with other assurance providers to deliver combined assurance to the business and ensure internal controls are embedded in business processes. Review internal audit and investigation reports to monitor remediation of identified control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
    • Reporting: Document the outcomes of all control monitoring and testing activities and provide periodic reports to Management and the Board. Develop and maintain clear and concise risk and control assessment documentation.
    • Stay abreast of all relevant compliance and regulatory requirements within the telecommunications industry, and stay current on evolving trends in internal control guidance and practice.
    • Partner with the MTNN leadership team to drive awareness of expected behaviors and the impact of non-compliance on bottom-line results and company image and reputation.
    • Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities.
    • Coach and train the team to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the department, awareness of set targets and requirements, and regular review of their training needs.
    • Review the performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.

    Education: 

    • First degree in any relevant numerate discipline
    • MBA or Senior Management Program in a recognized business school would be an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • Solicit feedback from partners to continuously improve partner experiences, journeys, and interfaces. 
    • Monitor and expeditiously resolve complaints related to partner expectations, needs, and priorities.
    • Identify the expectations, needs, and priorities of external stakeholders, e.g., aggregators, content partners, regulators, and service partners.

    Education:

    • A first degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, Social Sciences or any related discipline.
    • Certification or training in (Agile) Project Management will be an advantage.
    • Fluent in English.

    Experience:

    3 – 7 years’ experience including:

    • Minimum three (3) years’ work experience in a small- or medium-sized organization.
    • Experience in customer service, partner/relationship management.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
