Job Summary

The ideal candidate will ensure effective management and administration of the bank’s database platform at primary and secondary sites while ensuring the security and integrity of the database. You will also generate intelligence reports to enhance business decisions using tools such as Power BI while leveraging data analytics.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Database Design and
Implementation:

  • Design and implement database
    systems that meet the organization’s requirements.
  • Develop database schemas,
    tables, and indexes to support application performance.
  • Install and configure database
    software, ensuring proper integration with other IT systems.
  • Effective
    monitoring of database services


Database Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance
    tasks such as backups, indexing, and optimizing database performance.
  • Monitor and maintain database
    performance, tuning, and optimizing queries as needed.
  • Apply patches, updates, and
    upgrades to database systems to ensure they are secure and up-to-date.
  • Provide 2nd
    level support for core banking AX and other applications
  • Provide effective
    support for E-channel databases


Data Security and Integrity:

  • Implement and maintain
    database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and
    auditing.
  • Ensure the integrity and
    consistency of data by implementing and maintaining data validation and
    integrity checks.
  • Develop and maintain disaster
    recovery plans, including regular testing of backups and recovery
    procedures.


Database Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve database-related
    issues, including performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and
    data integrity problems.
  • Diagnoses and
    troubleshoots database errors.
  • Provide support to application
    developers and users, assisting with database-related issues and
    performance tuning.
  • Effective
    monitoring of database services


Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Work closely with application
    developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to ensure that
    database systems meet the needs of the business.
  • Document database
    architectures, configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide training and support to
    other IT staff and users on database-related topics.


Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure that all database
    systems comply with regulatory and industry standards, including data
    protection and privacy laws.
  • Generate reports and analytics
    to support business decision-making and regulatory compliance.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging
    database technologies and best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend new
    database technologies, tools, and practices to improve the efficiency and
    effectiveness of the Bank’s database systems.


Others:

  • Effective incident
    management and logging including root cause analysis
  • Effective change and
    release management documentation
  • Writing reports,
    documentation, and operating manuals including IT policies,  procedures, and IT steering committee documentation
  • Testing and modifying
    databases to ensure that they operate reliably
  • Providing user
    training, support, and feedback on applications
  • Writing disaster
    recovery plans
  • Management and administration of customer relationship
    management (CRM) platform.
  • Writing script to
    generate customized reports from the database.
  • Provide
    support and coordinate EOD, EOM, and EOY activities.
  • Provide second-level support for other databases in the bank.


Requirements:

  • 5 years of cognate experience
  • Degree in a related field
